How the rankings are built
- Automatic updates: this page reads the same published meet index and result files as the archive on each visit. When a meet is added to that data and published, the rankings recalculate automatically. New results are not scraped from outside websites.
- One best performance: one entry per normalized athlete name and school/team in each gender, class and lift. School names have only basic HS/high school suffix cleanup; transfers, nicknames and spelling differences may need a source correction. Equal best performances link to the additional meets.
- Ties: equal converted weights share a rank. Everyone tied at rank 10 is included, so a list can contain more than ten names. Official meet placing tiebreaks are not applied across different meets.
- Units and classes: lifted weights are compared in pounds (1 kg = 2.20462262185 lb). Equivalent class labels are grouped within a small rounding tolerance. Where a source label has conflicting pounds and kilograms, its leading pounds value is used. Other historical classes remain separate. We do not assign a class from bodyweight when the published class is “All.”
- Coverage: entries with an unknown gender, class, unit or unreadable name are excluded. Zero, missing and unsuccessful lift values do not rank. Totals must be from one meet with a successful result in all three lifts; we never combine personal bests across meets.
- Groups: junior events and Special Olympics meets have separate views. Other archived results appear under high school/open; this label is not an age or eligibility certification. School/team and meet location are shown as supplied. If a venue is absent from the meet title, it has not been guessed.
